His Eminence Dungse Garab Rinpoche was born in Brekha, eastern Bhutan.

He is a son of the famous Dungse Thinley Norbu Rinpoche and grandson of the great Dudjom Rinpoche Jigdral Yeshe Dorje, the second incarnation of Dudjom Lingpa. His maternal grandfather is the great Drukpa Kagyu master Sonam Sangpo Rinpoche, one of the main disciples of Sakya Shri.

Rinpoche’s heavenly blood lineage goes back to the Tibetan king Trisong Deutsen who was the manifestation of Manjushri. As holder of both the Dudjom blood and Dharma lineages, his root gurus are his grandfather Dudjom Rinpoche (the Second) and his father Thinley Norbu Rinp
